Gravity R&D Ltd. elaborated a system to enhance webshops’ turnover. Their recommending algorithm takes the profile and search history into account more effectively than the previously used ones.

Development of the invention

ValDeal prepared a market study based on the mapping of the technology and nominated Gravity to Netflix Prize, a contest for recommendation engines provided by America’s biggest DVD rental webpage where Gravity enhanced recommendation quality by 9% assuring significant raise in turnover. The participation on Netflix Prize and first customers organized by ValDeal became key references on the international market.

The leadership of Gravity R&D Ltd. is performed by ValDeal’s business development director as interim manager since august, 2009. ValDeal identified investors for Gravity R&D Ltd. The company counts a 30 persons staff and the second round of EUR 400k investment has been closed in 2010.

Gravity R&D became among the best European start-ups. A few of their references are as follows: Vatera, Mind Alliance, HomeSys, Morphlix, Pontis, GRoby, In the Mo, Vianeos, Quadrille. The turnover of the company can reach EUR 2,5M in 2011.

With the contribution of ValDeal, an invention of four university students became a successful start-up company.
